The ChartWorld eSync system is an innovative onboard data gateway designed to enhance cyber security for the global shipping fleet. It eliminates the need for physical media like DVDs or USB sticks for AVCS updates, thereby reducing manual data transfer risks. Once installed and connected to a vessel's communication system and ECDIS, eSync streamlines data management and ensures secure data exchange through a VPN tunnel, complying with the IEC 61162-460 standard for cybersecurity.
The system supports the trend towards increased connectivity on SOLAS vessels, facilitated by technologies like Starlink, and allows for seamless updates of ECDIS data, including ENC data, route files, and CIO+ data, using ChartWorld’s NavCloud ecosystem.
The ChartWorld eSync gateway manages the download and storage of weekly AVCS Base Media, and the seamless exchange of ChartWorld MyRA routes and CIO+ data services between Pathfinder ECDIS and the ChartWorld NavCloud servers. eSync streamlines the ECDIS data upload and management process and minimizes risks associated with manual data handling.
eSync offers enhanced security utilizing a multilayer inspection firewall plus comprehensive network and transport layer access control. eSync not only enhances the security and efficiency of data management onboard but also ensures compliance with international maritime cyber security standards including IEC 61162-460 for Ethernet. eSync hardware meets IEC 60945 standards.
