From Minehunters to ECDIS Expertise

Björn's career began as a Navy Officer, with five years of hands-on experience on minehunters. He served as a cadet on the Sail Training Ship Gorch Fock, and later as an Officer on Mine Hunters FGS Fulda, FGS Homburg, and FGS Grömitz, taking part in several NATO missions and deployments.

Moving into the civilian sector, he excelled as an ECDIS Training Manager, earning flag-state approvals for innovative training programs and contributing to authoritative publications on ECDIS.

Shaping Industry Standards

As Operations Director for SevenCs, Björn actively engaged with IHO industry working groups and hydrographic commissions, helping shape industry standards. His move into commercial maritime came from combining what he'd learned onboard with his university background in business administration.

His experience is backed by a strong base of qualifications, including an MBA, Certified Business Coach accreditation, GL DPA and Marine Superintendent certification, IMO Model Course 6.09 (Training Course for Instructors), IMO Model Course 1.27 (ECDIS IMO Model Course), and a Long Range Radio certificate. He stays current on regulations and standards through newsletters. Notable milestones include creating the Flag State and DNV IMO Model Course 1.27, and receiving a Safety at Sea Award for an integrated PPU solution.
